The dimensions above are the minimum usable areas that must be provided.

Specifications:

A - The overall space for the FS unit is 259m² inclusive of circulation, storage and utility areas.

B - One room of 15m² serving both Key Stage 1 and 2 classrooms.

C - A classroom store of 2m² for each of the six general teaching spaces.

D - Physical Education Stores: Internal = 10m² / External = 8m².

E - FS Stores: 2 Internal @ 10m² / 1 External @ 12m² = 32m² Total.

F - Changing areas for male and female = 2 x 15m² = 30m².

G - Adult Toilet Provision: Male = 9 m² / Female = 9m² / Unisex Disabled = 8m².

H - Pupils Toilet Provision: Key Stage 1 = 2 areas of 6m² maximum / Key Stage 2 = 2 areas of 9m² maximum.

I - 90m² Extended School Space is inclusive of all circulation and storage space.

J - 30m² to include Piazza entrance, reception and circulation. Cloak areas can be included.

K - 7m² per General Teaching Area = 42m² (excluding FS).

L - FS Pupils Toilet / Cloak Provision: 2 areas of 18m² maximum.

M - Small Group Rooms for Inclusion: 2 x 9 = 18m².

N - 56m² has been allowed in the total area for a Production Kitchen. The area includes for a store for cleaning materials at 1m² and a cloakroom at 2m².

Notes:

a - The Resource Area is based on one area serving two general teaching areas which can be enhanced by the utilisation of circulation space (8 – 13m² per unit). By agreement with CYPF the area allocated for the shared resource may be included with the teaching area to provide two larger teaching areas with integral resource space.

b - Exclusive of circulation areas.

c - Exclusive of storage space.

d - Inclusive of storage space.

e - The minimum requirement may be increased if community use is included as part of the specific brief.

f - Areas need to be considered together to maximise the amount of circulation space that can be achieved.

g - Where the food preparation area is not included as part of the scheme the provision is to be allowed for in the resource areas.

h - Room to be located on an external wall of the building adjacent to where incoming cables are located.
