Parts of a Jewelled Necklace from Alexandria, Egypt: 5th century AD

Three sections of a necklace which was found in a hoarded treasure in Alexandria, Egypt. They are composite pendants of emerald, sapphire, cornelian and pearl, mounted on ornamental raised supports.The rich style of pendant incorporating openwork and multiple settings for gems is found throughout the Late Roman Empire.
