Plain Clay Plates from the Convent of Jesus: 16th century

During the 16th century, traditional red clay ceramic vessels were in daily use even in wealthy households. Both of these simple plates would have been used in the kitchen for food preparation or ordinary meals.

The shallow bowl would have been used as a plate, and the red clay vessel is a fish plate.
