Wooden Trough or Manger: Detail from the Altarpiece of Setúbal, Jorge Afonso's workshop. 1520-1530 AD

This charming detail from the Crib panel of the altarpiece gives a glimpse of the diet of livestock in 16th-century Setúbal: apparently a semi-liquid mash of grain, possibly oats or barley.
