Community facilities

Community facilities on the Kingsmere estate will include:

  • a village centre with a community centre, local shops, a pub/restaurant and a nursery
  • a sports village with four football pitches, three rugby pitches, a cricket pitch, a running track and three junior pitches. There will also be free green space and children’s play areas.
  • a primary school opposite the village centre, which will share a car park with the community centre.
  • a secondary school, which will be open to the area outside Kingsmere and which will have the use of the sports village
  • a medical village, including a GP’s surgery, a medical centre, an elderly care home and a community hospital.
  • a hotel of 60 to 100+ bedrooms. The hotel will be approximately 0.3 miles from Bicester Village Outlet Shopping Centre.

Travel and transport

A Residential Travel Plan is in place to encourage eco-friendly transport in Kingsmere.

A new roundabout will be built on the A41, which will be the junction of a new perimeter road to Southwest Bicester. There will also be a signalised junction on the A41 leading into Kingsmere. The Chesterton slip roads will be replaced by a link road to the Roman road from the roundabout.

The estate will be built in line with the existing landscape, so that the farmland in the area can still be used. Excessive noise and light will be kept to a minimum.
