Travelling fairground families provide amusement for the people of the county from May to October. Schools and the University close for the most famous Oxfordshire fair, held in St Giles, Oxford early in September. This model of an Oxford fairground ride was built by Neville Rainsley in the 1920s.

In Rainsley's miniature theatre, warmly dressed spectators sit in an unheated threatre on hard benches to watch a ballet performers against a gorgeous backdrop featuring classical motifs - a glimpse of what is was like to go to the theatre in the 1920s
