Soft furnishing in the interior of a Roma tent.

Car transformed into lodging.

Constant moving influences the Roma's way of life. Initially, Roma lived in tents, gradually these are being replaced by wooden huts or by cars, transformed into functional lodgings. Their homes are easily carried or rebuilt in another place. Their crockery, soft furnishings (yioukos) and portable icon stands are easily moveable. The modern Roma household with television sets and electrical appliances reveals Greek influence. Furthermore, the Roma with their trade activities contribute to a wider use of certain household objects, such as summer plastic chairs.
